GUY PENROD EMBARKS ON FIRST SOLO
INTERNATIONAL TOUR, PROMOTES HIS
DEBUT COUNTRY CD, BREATHE DEEP

"Poignant lyrics and masterfully crafted melodies that range from soulful ballads to rock-a-billy
have certainly bridged the gap between gospel and country with Guy's debut album. Life, love and faith
are beautifully interwoven into each of the specially selected songs on this album." ROUGHSTOCK

"The musical range on BREATHE DEEP is from earthy to heavenly and Guy is mature and impressive
in delivery with a soulful quality. His contemporary backing is broad in appeal, ideal for country radio."

British Journalist/Broadcaster/Author Paul Davis

From there, the powerful voice that would grow through experiences in school plays, and singing with local groups and theater productions, would lead to graduation and a vocal scholarship to Liberty University in Virginia.  During the early 90s, Guy was an in-demand session singer in Nashville, who also appeared on TNN's "Music City Tonight" (as part of the show's vocal quartet), introducing him to a national audience via the live, 90-minute telecast.

Joining Guy on stage will be some of Nashville's finest musicians, including: Jason Ahlbrandt, Lead Guitar/Vocals; Jonathan Crone, Acoustic Guitar/Vocals; Andrew Lusk, Keyboards/Vocals; Lucas Skaggs (son of Ricky Skaggs), Bass Guitar and  Tucker Wilson (grandson of Buck White of The Whites), Drums.

GUY PENROD READY TO BREATHE DEEP TOMORROW

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Feb. 22, 2010Breathe Deep, the debut solo recording from Guy Penrod, acclaimed vocalist and former member of the legendary Gaither Vocal Band, is slated to release tomorrow. Produced by veteran hit maker Brent Rowan (Joe Nichols, Blake Shelton), Breathe Deep is comprised of 13 country selections focusing on faith and family.

With contributions from such top Music Row writers as Billy Montana, Neal Coty, Don Poythress, and Mike Mobley, among others, Penrod’s Servant Records/Gaither Music Group release features the debut country single “Are You The One,” and the debut Southern Gospel single “The Maker Of Them All.”

Breathe Deep touches on how fast our kids grow-up, how soon our parents grow old, and how precious those moments in between are,” Penrod says. “I believe country is one of the best genres of music from which to tell the American story; songs can literally become modern-day parables on how to live life. In fact, there's a lot of 'gospel' on the 13 songs we recorded—not my answers, but God's way wrapped in everyday language with a country feel."

“I live in the country on a farm in a log house, drive a tractor and a Ford F-350,” he continues. “But whether a listener lives in a Manhattan high rise and goes to work in a limo, at the end of the day 'life is life' and we all have joys and heartaches as well as similar basic needs and desires. That's the common thread that runs through my music that I hope everyone can identify with."

After 14 years with the GRAMMY® and Dove Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band, Penrod stepped away from the ensemble last year to pursue a solo career. Prior to his tenure with the Vocal Band, he was an in-demand session singer in Nashville and appeared for three years on TNN's popular "Music City Tonight" as a vocalist in the show’s house band. Penrod and his wife, Angie, are the parents of eight children, whom they homeschool.

Breathe Deep, a Servant Records/Gaither Music Group release, is distributed by EMI CMG Distribution.
